An appeal from Working Families

Just text WFAM10 £3/£5/£10 to 70070 to donate today.

Did you know that there are over 700,000 families in the UK right now bringing up disabled children? And over a quarter of those are not in paid work, because most of them have had to give up work to care for their child? Can you imagine what it’s like trying to balance work and home life with disabled children to care for?

If you’re a parent, you know just how difficult it can be to get that balance right – but imagine if your child has a disability. What if they couldn’t run around or feed themselves, go to the park, play football or join in with computer games after school with their friends? What if they were unable to relate to or communicate with other children? Independence promotes confidence and helps children thrive, but a disabled child would need your help to play and learn. How do you balance the needs of your disabled child with those of your employer, who needs you at work every day?

We at Working Families are there to catch parents when they fall. We provide vital information, assistance and support to parents of disabled children, and the professionals who work with them, to enable them to keep their jobs whilst caring for their children. We want to ensure that disabled children have the same life chances as everyone else, and our unique and dedicated helpline means that parents have a valuable resource they can call on to help them negotiate hours which will suit both their employer and their family. Will you donate now to give a disabled child a better life? To donate, just text WFAM10 £3/£5/£10 to 70070. Whatever you can give right now could change a child’s life forever.

 Just £10 will pay for a 15 minute call from a worried parent to our expert helpline.

 £50 would fund an hour’s outreach work by the disability team with parent groups.

 Or £100 would help update our Getting into Work guide which provides vital information on returning to work.

Thank you.
